Trump criticized after video emerges allegedly showing him bending golf rules

Trump Roasted Online After Golf Cheating Allegations Surface

Donald Trump is facing fresh criticism after footage emerged allegedly showing him cheating on the golf course.

The President’s Favorite Pastime

Golf has long been Trump’s sport of choice. Before entering politics, he owned over a dozen golf resorts around the globe. Since returning to the White House in January, he’s spent at least 45 out of 189 days golfing. In just three months, he visited his Mar-a-Lago estate six times, clubs in hand.

Leaked Clip Sparks Backlash

Now, a leaked video from Trump’s Turnberry resort in Scotland is causing a stir. The clip, shared on Twitter, appears to show Trump’s caddy discreetly dropping a golf ball behind him as Trump approaches in a cart.

This moment has triggered a flood of reactions online. Many critics called out what they see as clear dishonesty. One user wrote, “Trump’s golf game is as dishonorable as his political game.” Another added, “If that ain’t a perfect metaphor.”

“Commander in Ch*at” Trends Again

This isn’t the first time Trump has faced accusations of cheating on the course. The nickname “Commander in Cheat” resurfaced and quickly began trending.

Critics also slammed the president for ignoring pressing domestic issues—like rising grocery costs—while he enjoys a four-day golf trip abroad. During the visit, Trump reportedly played two rounds of golf and took part in trade discussions.

Playing Golf While Meeting Leaders
Trump hit the links before meeting EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Their talks resulted in a finalized US-EU trade deal.

Today, July 28, he’s set to meet UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and First Minister John Swinney. Notably, that meeting is also scheduled to take place on a golf course, where Trump is pushing to open a second 18-hole course at his Menie estate.

History of Allegations
Author Rick Reilly previously accused Trump of golf deception in his book Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump. Reilly claims caddies at Winged Foot Golf Club once nicknamed Trump “Pele” for habitually kicking his ball back onto the fairway.

Even celebrities have spoken out. Samuel L. Jackson and LPGA pro Suzann Pettersen have both accused Trump of cheating in past games.

Official Denials
Trump has denied all allegations. The White House, meanwhile, insists the president’s trip to Scotland is a “working visit.”
