Salher Fort, the Highest Fort in Maharashtra

Salher Fort, located near Satana in the Nashik district of Maharashtra, is one of the most prominent forts in the region.

It stands as the highest fort in Maharashtra, rising to a majestic altitude of 5141 feet (1567 meters).

Historically, Salher played a key role during the reign of Shivaji Maharaj and was the site of the famous Battle of Salher, a landmark event in Maratha history.

The trek to Salher starts from base villages like Salherwadi and Waghamba and is categorized as moderately difficult. With steep rock-cut stairs and breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, it takes around 8 to 9 hours to complete the trek. The fort is accessible through various routes, providing trekkers with scenic landscapes and a glimpse into ancient military architecture.
