Massachusetts Authorities Detain Six Women Tied to Alleged Interstate Bu.rg.lary Operation — Three in ICE Custody

Break-In Sparks Rapid Police Response
Police in Norwood, Massachusetts, arrested six women from Maryland on Friday afternoon after responding to a reported home break-in near Neponset Street. The homeowners told officers they walked in to find multiple women inside their residence. When confronted, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

High-Speed Chase and Foot Pursuit
Shortly after, officers spotted a car matching the description. A brief pursuit followed. The suspects eventually ditched the vehicle and ran into nearby woods. Police immediately apprehended one suspect.

Later, officers saw several women behind a business. When approached, the group ran again, prompting another chase. Officers caught them and took them into custody.

Final Suspects Captured
With help from a detective, another officer tracked down two women trying to escape across a river. Soon after, police arrested the final suspect.

“All six were arrested thanks to a coordinated effort by officers, specialized units, and mutual aid,” said Norwood Police Chief William Brooks.

Authorities identified the suspects as:

Mirabela Caldarau, 42

Jajela Chiciu, 41

Flavia Caldararu, 22

Emilia Sardaru, 36

Mihaela Ion, 33

Elizabeth Sardaru, 21

Police say all the women are related. Several already had outstanding warrants in other states for similar crimes.

Breaking and entering

Conspiracy

Possession of burglary tools

Resisting a**est

ICE Takes Over
At their arraignment Monday, three women were released on bail but immediately taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Additionally, two men who arrived at the courthouse to post bail were also detained by ICE. According to police, those men are also related to the suspects.

Ongoing Investigation
Authorities believe the women are part of a larger, organized criminal group operating across multiple states. Norwood Police are working with other jurisdictions and federal agencies as the investigation continues.
