A Disney-inspired baby name has sparked heated debate online after social media influencers chose it for their newborn daughters. The name—Bambi—drew both ridicule and admiration, with critics calling it a “brilliant stripper name” while the mothers defended it as beautiful, unique, and meaningful.
In January 2023, Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague announced she and Tommy Fury had welcomed a baby girl, revealing her name as Bambi. The couple faced a wave of negative comments, but Hague stood firm, calling it “a beautiful name” she had always dreamed of giving her daughter. Fury agreed, adding there was “only one name” that felt right. To shield themselves from trolls, they disabled comments on the announcement post.
Around the same time, Australian TikTok creator Indy Clinton named her daughter Bambi Valentine, inspired by reading the storybook to her son. She admitted she had also considered Paloma, but her daughter’s wide-eyed, sweet nature sealed the choice: “She’s my Bambilicious.” When Hague revealed the same name later, Clinton simply laughed it off, saying, “Great minds think alike.”
Like Hague, Clinton faced mixed reactions—some mocked, while others praised the name’s charm. She dismissed the criticism, noting that unusual names are increasingly popular alongside choices like River, Bear, Wolf, and Stormi. For her, the decision was final: “That is her name, and nothing is going to change that.”
