After 5 Soldiers Were Sh*t at Fort Stewart, GA, President Trump Issues Statement

Five Soldiers Wounded in Fort Stewart Sh**ting
A quiet morning at Fort Stewart erupted into chaos when g*nfire broke out, injuring five soldiers. The suspect, 28-year-old Sergeant Quornelius Radford, used a personal handgun to open f*re on fellow troops in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.

Suspect Apprehended Quickly
Police responded swiftly. They were alerted at 10:56 a.m. EST and detained Radford just 39 minutes later. Other soldiers tackled and subdued him, preventing further harm. Radford now faces pre-trial confinement while Army investigators continue their work.

President Trump Addresses the Nation
Later that day, President Donald Trump spoke at the White House during an unrelated event. He confirmed the shooter was in custody and praised the soldiers who intervened.

“As you know, five people were seriously wounded, and two, very, very seriously hurt,” Trump said. “The Army Criminal Investigation Division is on site to ensure the perpetrator will face full prosecution.”

He offered prayers for the victims and their families, promising justice. “We’re going to take very good care of this person who did this, horrible person,” the president added.

Victims Receiving Care
Brigadier General John Lubas confirmed all wounded soldiers are stable. Three had surgery; two received care at Memorial Hospital in Savannah. None of the injuries are expected to be fatal.

Radford had never been deployed to a combat zone. However, the general revealed Radford had a prior DUI arrest in May 2025—an incident unknown to the military until now. No other disciplinary issues have surfaced.

Lockdown and Evacuations
The sh**ting triggered a lockdown lasting over an hour. Social media footage showed troops evacuating the scene. A Burger King manager working on base described sheltering staff in a safe room away from g*nf*re until authorities declared the area secure.

Georgia Governor Reacts
Governor Brian Kemp urged Georgians to pray for the victims and their families. “We keep those who serve and their loved ones in our hearts and prayers,” he said.

Fort Stewart: A Major Military Hub
Fort Stewart spans nearly 280 acres in Hinesville, Georgia. It is the largest US Army base east of the Mississippi River and houses about 10,000 people. The base lies roughly 40 miles southwest of Savannah and 240 miles southeast of Atlanta.
