Melania Trump Stuns in a Floor-Length Trench Coat During UK Visit with President Trump

Melania Trump Steals the Spotlight

It was meant to be a monumental diplomatic moment, but all anyone could talk about was the First Lady’s coat. On September 16, 2025, Donald and Melania Trump stepped off Air Force One at London Stansted Airport. The focus should have been their historic second state visit to the United Kingdom, a personal honor extended by King Charles III.

Instead, social media exploded over Melania’s dramatic, floor-length trench coat. While Washington and London celebrated strong political ties, the internet zeroed in on her look.

Wrapped in Burberry

Melania’s departure-day outfit featured a Burberry Kensington Heritage trench coat sweeping to her ankles, Saint Laurent flat top sunglasses, and Dior Empreinte leather riding boots. Her husband initially wore a dark suit and red tie, but by touchdown in Britain, he had switched to a long black coat.

A professional lip reader revealed the President whispered to his wife, “Ooh, it’s cold. I’m glad we’re wearing our coats.” Yet online chatter ignored Donald’s outfit entirely.

Fashion Fans Come to Her Defense

Not everyone disapproved. Admirers praised Melania’s nod to British style:

“Class. Head to toe.”

“Very London look. My husband worked there a year, and I always wore black and boots—this is exactly it 😆.”

“Trench coat and flat boots—#MelaniaTrump’s most practical look.”

The Burberry trench, a classic floor-length design, became the star of her transatlantic arrival. But shoppers hoping to copy the look were disappointed; it’s no longer available on Burberry’s website.

A Historic Diplomatic Visit

Beyond fashion, the visit itself marked a first: no U.S. president has been invited twice for an official state visit. Earlier in February, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer delivered a handwritten note from King Charles III to Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

Before boarding, the President described his goals: “My relationship with the UK and Charles is very good. It’s a great honor to be invited twice.” He highlighted the special nature of visiting Windsor Castle, a location rarely opened for diplomatic events.

Royal Reception and Carriage Procession

The Trumps’ arrival on September 17 set the stage for a royal welcome. The Prince and Princess of Wales greeted them at Windsor Castle’s Walled Garden, then escorted them to Victoria House. King Charles III and Queen Camilla awaited outside.

The Household Cavalry band played as the group proceeded on a carriage through Windsor estate—a full-blown royal reception for a president making history and a First Lady who ignited a social media fashion frenzy.
