Angelina Jolie Allegedly Puts Her $24.5 Million Home Up for Sale — Learn More

Angelina Jolie Prepares for a New Chapter Beyond Los Angeles

At 50, Angelina Jolie plans a fresh start. Once her youngest children reach adulthood, she may leave Los Angeles behind. The “Maleficent” star is setting the stage for a life far from Hollywood’s spotlight.

Selling a Piece of Hollywood History

Jolie recently decided to sell her Los Angeles estate, a property she bought in 2017 for $24.5 million. This sprawling home sits on more than two acres in Los Feliz. Built in 1913, it boasts six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, four fireplaces, a wine cellar, a tea house, formal gardens, and a pool with cascading fountains. The estate also offers stunning views of the Griffith Observatory.

This historic home once belonged to filmmaking legend Cecil B. DeMille for about 40 years. It also has ties to Charlie Chaplin, another Hollywood icon.

A Sanctuary for Family and Friends

Jolie used the estate as both a family retreat and a refuge for others. During the pandemic, she and her children quarantined there. In January 2025, she opened it to friends who lost homes to wildfires.

Her children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne—were central to her choice of the home. Jolie told Vogue UK in 2021 that she wanted to be close to their father, Brad Pitt, who lives just five minutes away.

Living in a Home with Hollywood Legacy

Jolie felt the weight of the home’s Hollywood history when she moved in. She appreciated the walking paths and quiet spots for reflection, rather than flashy entertainment rooms. She called the estate a “fortunate place” for her family during challenging times.

A Long-Awaited Move Abroad

Her decision to sell marks more than just a real estate change. Jolie has wanted to live abroad for years. However, custody arrangements kept her in Los Angeles until now.

After finalizing her divorce from Brad Pitt in December 2024, Jolie’s path cleared. With twins Knox and Vivienne turning 18 next year, she’s exploring international destinations.

In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie said, “I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.” She added, “When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety.”

Jolie also expressed feeling that Los Angeles lacks some of the humanity she’s found elsewhere. She plans to spend much time in Cambodia and travel to visit family in various countries.
