Observers highlight JD Vance’s strange response when asked about succeeding Trump as president

JD Vance’s Curious Reaction Sparks Attention

Questions About 2028

Vice President JD Vance drew attention for his reaction when asked whether he could succeed Donald Trump as president in 2028.

Technically, Trump cannot run again due to the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms. Many Republicans, however, see Vance as a natural successor. Recently, CNBC asked Trump who he would prefer as his successor.

“In all fairness, he’s the vice president,” Trump said. “And he would probably be favored at this point.”

Vance Hints at Future Ambitions
Vance seemed intrigued by the idea of possibly becoming president. He hinted that he has discussed this with Trump personally.

During a Sunday sit-down with Kristen Welker on Meet the Press, Vance emphasized priorities:
“I see myself as a vice president trying to do a good job for the American people. If I do well, and if the president continues to be successful, the politics will take care of itself. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Before we talk about anything three-and-a-half years down the road, let’s focus on governing and the midterm elections.”

When asked directly if Trump might “pass the torch” in 2028, Vance laughed and smiled, replying:
“As you know, the president talks about everything. And if it’s in the news, the president and I have certainly discussed it.”

The Bottom Line
For now, Vance remains focused on his vice-presidential duties and the 2026 midterms. Yet his reaction to questions about 2028 continues to spark discussion among political watchers, leaving the public curious about his future ambitions.
