Jimmy Kimmel Hints at Major Move Amid Late-Night Shake-Up

Jimmy Kimmel revealed he recently became an Italian citizen and is toying with possibly moving his family to Europe.

“I did get Italian citizenship,” Kimmel, 57, told ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman during a recent appearance on her “The Sarah Silverman Podcast.”

The comedian — who shares children Katherine and Kevin with first wife Gina Maddy and children Jane and Billy with wife Molly McNearney — did not elaborate on if or when he plans to relocate to Italy, but his long-running talk show currently films in Los Angeles. Kimmel previously hinted that the series, which first premiered in 2003, may be coming to an end.

“I think this is my final contract, I hate to even say it, because everyone’s laughing at me now — each time I think that, and then it turns out to be not the case,” he told the Los Angeles Times in February 2024. “I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good, that seems like enough.”

Kimmel’s current contract expires in 2026.

Kimmel’s announcement comes one month after The Late Show host Stephen Colbert shared that CBS had canceled his long-running talk show. The iconic series, which was originally hosted by David Letterman, will come to an end after the current season.

“It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS,” Colbert told viewers, revealing that his final show will air in May 2026. “I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away. And I do want to say … that the folks at CBS have been great partners. I’m so grateful to the Tiffany Network for giving me this chair and this beautiful theater to call home. And of course I’m grateful to you, the audience, who have joined us every night.”
